A new project in the field of informatics, meteorology and geography for school students

proekt_info_allOracle Academy and the Raspberry Pi Foundation have announced the launch of the ambitious Oracle Raspberry Pi Weather Station for Schools project, a global science experiment involving thousands of schools.

Each school participating in the project will receive a set of Raspberry Pi hardware, which will allow students to create and use their own weather station in order to gain valuable skills in disciplines such as computer science, meteorology and geography. Schools interested in participating in this project are encouraged to register on the Raspberry Pi website.

The first 1,000 kits will be provided to schools free of charge with grant funds from the Oracle Giving program, which, together with Oracle Academy, is part of Oracle's philanthropic and development initiatives in the field of education. Half of the free kits are allocated to schools participating in the Oracle Academy program. Using these kits, students will not only be able to create weather stations, but also acquire the skills to write software code for an application that records various weather data, including wind speed and direction, temperature, pressure and humidity. The Oracle Academy website will make available supporting study materials for classroom sessions.
