Educators of Kyiv received a database from the register of the territorial community of the city about potential first-graders of the 2018/2019 school year. The extract from the register includes selective information about children aged 5-7 years in the section of each school.
According to the Department of Registration of the Territorial Community of Kyiv, there are 62,000 such children. Of course, among them there are children who, by the decision of their parents, will not go to the 1st grade this year and those who are already school students.
Thus, we have 24,500 registered potential first-time buyers. According to preliminary data received from the district education departments, educational institutions of the capital can accept 34,000 first-graders. So, we have a total reserve of places for children not registered in Kyiv, 9.5 thousand places.
This year, on September 1, all schools in Ukraine will start teaching according to the concept of the "New Ukrainian School". All young Ukrainians - first graders will have the same conditions and standard of education, according to which each student will have the opportunity for personal realization, development, active citizenship, social inclusion, employment and the right to success in life throughout his life.
Already today, Kyiv is actively working on a new educational ecosystem that will meet modern standards. 51.4 million hryvnias have already been allocated from the city budget for changing the school design, and another 53.3 million hryvnias are expected from the state budget. According to the information of the district education departments, in 2018, funds in the amount of UAH 36.0 million were allocated from the budget of the city of Kyiv for the purchase of equipment for the creation of the New Educational Space. The allocation of additional funds in the amount of UAH 0.8 million will be considered at the Kyiv City Council session.
Teachers in the capital have already been trained within the framework of the New Ukrainian School, in order to motivate teachers financially, the ministry will introduce certification. This is a voluntary review, passing which will give 20% teachers a salary increase and exemption from certification. From the state budget for the training of teacher trainers, advanced training of primary school teachers, etc. UAH 16.3 million was allocated.
