The wife of the President of Ukraine, Maryna Poroshenko, visited the Kherson region on a working trip. The first lady got acquainted with the results of the implementation of the inclusive reform in the region. Kherson Oblast joined the national project of the Poroshenko Foundation on the development of inclusive education in Ukraine in November 2017.
According to Maryna Poroshenko, during the one and a half years of implementation of the project, the number of inclusive educational institutions in the region has doubled, and the number of students with special educational needs, who receive education in classes with an inclusive form of education, has tripled. "Currently, there are 101 inclusive schools in the Kherson region, in which 444 children with special educational needs study," she said.
The President's wife got acquainted with the work of the Novokakhov Inclusive Resource Center, which was created under the project of the Poroshenko Foundation. During the six months of operation of this IRC, psychological-pedagogical and correctional-developmental services were provided to 175 children.
Also in Nova Kakhovka, Maryna Poroshenko visited primary school No. 10 of grades I-III, where six children with special educational needs study. On the basis of the institution, a resource room has been set up for such students, where they study according to an individual development plan accompanied by a correctional teacher.
During the trip, the First Lady met with the teachers and pupils of the Kherson special comprehensive boarding school of grades I-III, which provides social rehabilitation for 104 children with hearing impairments.
The educational institution closely cooperates with the regional organization "Invasport" and the State University of Applied Sciences. And today at school, Maryna Poroshenko took part in the opening of a modern sports ground for children with hearing impairments. The field is equipped with a polyurethane surface for playing mini-football, volleyball and basketball.
At the Kherson State Maritime Academy, Maryna Poroshenko got acquainted with the laboratory and training base and talked with cadets who supported the all-Ukrainian student movement for the immediate release of Ukrainian sailors who are prisoners of war who are illegally held in Russian prisons.
Also, in a conversation with the cadets, Ms. Poroshenko noted that education reform, an integral part of which is inclusive education, is the key to the development of Ukrainian society.
The President's wife came to the celebration of the 5-year anniversary of the public organization "Sunny Children of the Kherson region", with which the Poroshenko Foundation signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the development of socialization of children with special educational needs.
As part of her trip to the Kherson region, the First Lady visited the Daryiv dispensary of the general practice of family medicine, which is a structural division of the Center for Primary Health Care. The outpatient clinic provides medical care in four specialties: therapy, pediatrics, family medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology. It is received by 14,000 residents of the district who live in 13 settlements.
Since 2017, the Daryiv dispensary has participated in a pilot project for the implementation of electronic health care, as a result of which an electronic appointment with a doctor was created, as well as a register of all residents of the Daryiv district. During this time, automated workplaces of doctors were created, electronic filling of patient cards was started. Thanks to the existing electronic database of patients, as of March 1, 2019, more than 8.7 thousand declarations were concluded, which is 62% from the population of the district.
