As reported by the Chief Children's Immunologist of Kyiv, Associate Professor of the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases and Children's Immunology of the NMAPO named after P. L. Shupyka Fedir Lapii, there is a risk of spread of various infectious diseases in Ukraine.
First of all, this is due to the fact that vaccination is not carried out in the occupied territories, so infectious diseases can develop at a faster rate.
"During the war, the risk of spreading infectious diseases increases significantly. One of the diseases associated with migration is poliomyelitis. In the conditions of migration, the tracking of infectious diseases is weakened, one episode of the disease may remain unnoticed. This problem must be prevented. And now we are talking about the national security of Ukraine," Fedir Lapii emphasized.
"Today there is no alternative to vaccination. We do everything to provide children with vaccines. By the way, the procedure for purchasing vaccines has changed. Now our country will buy them with the help of international organizations. This will help make vaccines cheaper. UNICEF provided our country with a vaccine against poliomyelitis, and now we are talking about the supply of the BCG vaccine as a humanitarian aid," said Serhii Kramarev, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health, head of the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases at the Bogomolets National Medical University.
