Representatives of the IT community and other participants of the "IT Schoolboy" initiative will participate in the creation of new Informatics programs, teacher training, and the creation of requirements for modern school digital equipment. The corresponding memorandum between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the social project "IT Schoolboy" was signed on April 6, 2018.
"I often repeat that the best MES projects that we managed to implement were done in cooperation with the public. I am glad to see that our partners, with whom we already have successful experience in implementing changes, have joined the "IT Schoolboy" initiative, this inspires confidence. We now face significant challenges, and not only those related to the content of education. We count on your support in the creation of live digital education content, in the formation of objective requirements for equipment, in teacher training, and in our National Educational Platform," said Liliya Hrynevych during the signing ceremony.
Representatives of the initiative have already studied foreign experience and presented their vision of changes. In particular, they presented what 5 competencies a modern computer science teacher should have. It was about the possession of digital resources, the ability to form digital competences in students, their training and assessment, understanding of the modern information society.
It was also about 5 modules, according to which, according to project representatives, children should be taught. This is, in particular, the ability of children to present and analyze data, understand network technologies, algorithms and programming, computer systems, and also be aware of the connection between IT and society.
"I have already understood that, in general, you are satisfied with our new State Standard of Primary Education. Now we will work on tools for its implementation. I would ask you to delegate your representative to the working group that writes the standard for grades 5-9," said the Minister.
Separately, Liliya Hrynevych asked for help in working with children regarding cyber security.
"You see, in addition to the Minister's interest, I also have my grandmother's interest in this context. We should start properly teaching children safe behavior on the Internet, so that they at least know what threats there are and how to deal with them," Liliya Hrynevych added.
