The introduction of the 12-year school and the mechanism for its implementation is contained in the draft law "On Education". Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Kvit announced this at an extended meeting of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Science and Education.
According to Clause 3 of the final and transitional provisions of the draft law, the education of students under the programs of 12-year full general secondary education will begin: for primary education - on September 1, 2018, for basic secondary education - from September 1, 2022, for specialized secondary education - from September 1, 2018.
The main goal of 12-year education is to reduce the student's academic load and give him the right to choose subjects in high school.
According to the draft law "On education", new types of forms of education are introduced - formal, informal and informal.
Also, he said that the number of graduates who will go to study at higher educational institutions will decrease, as most of them will focus on professional education institutions, which, in turn, will develop. At the same time, the number of universities will decrease.
