The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft Law "On child-friendly justice", according to which it is proposed to liquidate comprehensive schools and vocational schools of social rehabilitation.
According to the draft law, it is proposed to entrust the functions of social rehabilitation of children in conflict and in contact with the law to the centers of social and psychological rehabilitation of children.
According to Deputy Minister of Justice Oleksandr Banchuk, the methods of socio-psychological work with children, who are currently placed in social rehabilitation schools, and a significant number of pupils of centers for socio-psychological rehabilitation of children who have similar, but not established experience of illegal behavior, have many common features .
"That is why the draft law proposes to provide for the possibility of working with such children in the conditions of the same institution," explains the deputy minister.
He also said that the application of the draft law will help to bring justice for children closer to international standards.
"We will be able to create conditions to ensure the legality, reasonableness and effectiveness of every decision regarding a child in conflict with the law, as well as to protect the rights of child victims and child witnesses. In addition, we will be able to strengthen the positive elements of the existing system of bodies and services for children and reform its inefficient or weak components," said Banchuk.
