On behalf of the Government, at the repeated request of the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine regarding the need to increase the level of scholarship support for students of higher educational institutions, the Ministry of Education and Science reports that the draft resolution of the CMU on the gradual increase in the size of the minimum ordinary (ordinary) academic scholarship for university students and its approximation during 2016-2018, up to the amount of the subsistence minimum per person per month was subject to approval by the interested executive authorities during 2015.
The mentioned draft resolution was not supported by the Ministry of Finance.
The Ministry of Education and Science reports that in 2016, coordination work with the central bodies of the executive power to solve the specified problem will be continued.
We will remind you that at the end of 2015, the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science regarding the need to increase the level of scholarships for students of higher educational institutions to at least the subsistence minimum per person per month.
The Central Committee of the Trade Union, on behalf of students who are currently studying in higher education institutions, expresses their concern about the low level of scholarship provision, especially in the conditions of a rapid increase in tariffs and prices for food products, goods and services, in particular for housing and communal services, as well as the growth the level of inflation, which, starting from September 2012, reached 76%.
