The Ministry of Education and Science intends to protect teachers from the pressure of directors and departments of education in the process of choosing textbooks. This was announced by the Minister of Education Hanna Novosad during a press conference.
According to her, in case of pressure when choosing textbooks for 3rd graders, which will last until March 12 this year, teachers will be able to report it to a special "hotline" that will work at (044) 248-17-50 .
In addition, teachers can complain about pressure to the educational ombudsman at the following numbers: (044) 406-72-34 or (095) 143-87-26.
Teachers can also write a complaint to the mailbox of the educational ombudsman service: ez@eo.gov.ua.
"In previous years, when the Ministry of Education and Science of Education and Culture had just implemented the system of selecting textbooks by teachers, there were frequent signals that teachers were being pressured by directors and education departments. It is unacceptable. That is why this year we are joining the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Education Ombudsman to combat this phenomenon. This year there will be a "hotline" that accompanies the competitive selection of textbooks. It will cooperate with the Educational Ombudsman Service. Serhiy Gorbachev, the educational ombudsman, will directly receive and respond to complaints, coordinate the actions of the Institute for the Modernization of the Content of Education, which in the event of a complaint can call into question the formed application from the school, as well as the Ministry of Education and Culture, which can promptly respond to manifestations of pressure," stressed Hanna Novosad.
In turn, educational ombudsman Serhiy Gorbachev noted that a good textbook is the right of every teacher and every child.
"Now we have certain problems with the implementation of this right. And we will systematically work on it. And, of course, for this we have to protect the teacher's choice. So between today and March 12, this topic will be a top priority for my service. Based on the results, we will also draw up a report and present it to the public," Gorbachev said.
