We congratulate everyone on the Day of Unity and Freedom of Ukraine. Today, January 22, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity and Freedom. This day marks the promulgation of the Act of Reunification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic, which took place in 1919. Officially, in Ukraine, the Day of Sobornost has been celebrated since 1999.
On January 22, 1919, the UNR Directory solemnly proclaimed the Act of Reunification of the Western Ukrainian People's Republic and the Ukrainian People's Republic into a single conciliar Ukrainian state in Kyiv on Sophia Square.
It should be noted that the capital of the ZUNR was first Lviv, then Ternopil, and from January 1919 - Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk).
One of the most striking events in the history of Ukraine becoming a sovereign state was a living chain of people (the number of people, according to various sources, was from 1 to 3 million people), which stretched from Kyiv to Lviv, which became a symbol of the spiritual unity of the people of the eastern and western lands of Ukraine.
