In September of this year, the MES plans to present a draft law "On education" to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration, which provides for 12 years of schooling and establishes a specialized high school.
"Programs at school are overloaded, and this is one of the key reasons for extending the term of schooling to 12 years in order to include in the time frame the amount of material that is necessary to know for full secondary education," Inna Sovsun said.
The draft law provides that in high school the child will choose a profile, in particular, from the exact sciences, humanities, or social sciences, and most importantly - he will be able to continue his studies at the university not necessarily according to this profile, but already according to another.
The issue of the importance of career guidance for graduates was not overlooked. "A large part of them is focused on how to get only a piece of paper about education, and not on the profession they dream of," the First Deputy Minister of Education emphasized.
According to Inna Sovsun, career guidance should be conducted by the school, school psychologists who determine the child's inclinations, where he can realize himself, and the employment service. "It is imposed on children that a good education is not always correlated with the concept of success in life. And these ideals nullify any work of the school in the direction of career guidance. Broader social changes are needed here so that applicants start thinking about their future in a different way," the First Deputy Minister emphasized.
