The general level of knowledge of the applicants, which was determined after the completion of an external independent assessment, is quite low. IN notes of the authorized body contains conclusions about the level of educational achievements of graduates based on the results of an external independent assessment in 2014. This information will be considered at the meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine today, December 1.
This is due to the fact that in 2014, only 70% graduates of general educational institutions were able to pass the external examination.
The UTSOYAO noted that only 9 out of 242,611 participants of the external independent evaluation for completing the tasks of the Ukrainian language and literature test received the maximum test score. Only 46 applicants scored the maximum test score in mathematics, which is 0.03% of their total number. As for other subjects, things are even worse there, because 25% participants of the English language test and 13% test participants of the Ukrainian language and literature have not even started the implementation of the open task of the test.
The situation with biology tests is even worse, because only 1 entrant scored the maximum score, and no entrant received the maximum number of test points for geography, world literature, French, Spanish, and Russian language tests.
Graduates who graduated from general education institutions located in rural areas have slightly lower results than graduates from cities.
For example, if 7.7% urban graduates scored less than 124 points in Ukrainian language and literature, then among rural graduates this indicator is about 12%. The situation with the exact sciences is even worse, namely, in mathematics, 48% graduates of rural schools and 35% of urban schools received results from 124 to 150 points. On the other hand, 5% rural students and 9% urban students have math results of more than 180 points.
Low results in foreign languages as well, because in English, the number of graduates of rural schools who did not score 124 points is twice the number of graduates of urban schools.
According to statistical data for the period 2008-2014, there is a trend towards the deterioration of the quality of the knowledge level of graduates. "Such results of an external independent assessment, in our opinion, testify to serious stagnant processes in the system of general secondary education, which require an immediate solution, including through the preparation and adoption of a comprehensive State program to improve the quality of general secondary education," - noted the authorized body of the Ukrainian National Academy of Education.
