In educational institutions of Kyiv, security measures will be strengthened by installing video surveillance cameras.
Mykola Negrych, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the Solomyan district of the capital, made such an initiative, the deputy's press service reports.
According to the deputy, the video surveillance system is an opportunity for parents to see what is happening in the educational institution, to observe how security works, how teachers behave with children, and vice versa.
Video cameras in schools are a fairly common practice in the USA, Great Britain and Scandinavian countries. A few years ago, the Ministry of Education and Science also recommended the directors of schools and universities of Ukraine to install video surveillance in their institutions. However, until now, due to the lack of funds, there were only isolated cases of video surveillance in schools installed by patrons and benefactors, the deputy noted.
According to Negrych, the necessary funds for the installation of cameras are in the city budget - due to financial decentralization, budget revenues in the capital have increased significantly.
"My colleagues and I have already prepared a corresponding draft decision. I am confident that the Kyiv City Council will support this initiative," said Negrych.
Earlier, a member of the Kyiv City Council took the initiative to install equipment for filtering tap water in the city's schools. The necessary funds were allocated by the Kyiv City Council - by December 2015, schools and kindergartens will be provided with the installation of drinking water filters.
As you know, at the beginning of 2015, the Kyiv City Council approved the city's budget for the year. Initially, revenues were planned in the amount of UAH 22.1 million, expenses – UAH 20.2 million. However, thanks to the increase in tax revenues, these amounts are planned to increase to UAH 24.8 million. and UAH 22.9 million. in accordance.
