School lunches for the rest will cost about 10 hryvnias.

The capital authorities want schoolchildren to buy lunches with their own money. Free meals at school remain only for children of privileged categories (orphans, from low-income families, students of special classes), from 1 to 11 grades.

According to Hanna Starostenko, deputy head of the KMDA, money was found in the budget to finance the nutrition of children in privileged categories, of whom there are about 10,000 in the capital. The rest will be able to buy lunches for money. The price of lunch will be low - about UAH 10, depending on the menu, and will be determined separately in each district of the city. Previously, the average amount allocated per schoolchild was about 7 hryvnias.

The authorities have not specified when exactly the free lunches will be canceled - they say that everything will become clear when the experts calculate the new menu.

Previously, ten times more schoolchildren - more than 100,000 children - were fed with budget funds, and free meals for high school students were canceled a long time ago.
