The Verkhovna Rada allowed full-time students, graduate students and doctoral students to be released from military service.
A total of 245 people's deputies voted for draft law No. 1175-1 on amendments to Article 26 of the law on military duty and military service.
According to the adopted law, citizens who are full-time students and postgraduates and were called up during mobilization in a special period are released from military service if they do not wish to continue military service.
In addition, the deputies decided to exempt full-time doctoral students from military service.
Parliamentarians considered draft law No. 2196 on amendments to the laws on mobilization training and mobilization and on military duty and military service regarding educational guarantees for full-time doctoral students.
During the discussion of this draft law, the people's deputies decided to introduce a provision according to which full-time doctoral students are exempted from military service if they wish, and to add it to the draft law, which is already being prepared for signature - No. 1175-1.
