At the beginning of June, an open selection of candidates to fill the vacant positions of heads of general education and preschool educational institutions in Kyiv began. For the first time, such a competition was held a year ago and became an example for other cities of Ukraine. This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Hanna Starostenko.
"Kyiv became the first city to initiate transparent and public competitions to determine the heads of schools and kindergartens. Our experience was already adopted by other cities last year, and the government approved the official procedure for such appointment of managers in the fall," she said.
According to Hanna Starostenko, the competition will last one and a half months - from June 1 to July 15. "The acceptance of documents has already started, it will end on June 21. After that, the actual competitive selection will take place, during which all applicants will compete on an open competitive basis for the opportunity to head the relevant educational institution," said the deputy head of the KMDA.
The selection of candidates will continue in three stages:
June 23-24 – psychological training for applicants on the basis of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University;
June 30 - July 1 - familiarization with educational institutions, teaching teams and the parent community;
July 4-5 – presentation of one's vision for the development of the educational institution.
The selection will be carried out by a special commission, which includes representatives of local self-government bodies, parent organizations, public associations of heads of educational institutions in Kyiv, deputies of the Kyiv City Council, scientists, experts, representatives of other public organizations working in the field of education, and psychologists.
"The main requirements we put forward for a potential head of an educational institution are leadership and management skills, analytical thinking and strategic planning, as well as the ability to effectively build communication. Our schools and kindergartens need the best managers, because there are no bad schools, only weak managers. That is why the city, together with a wide range of experts, launched this competition," the deputy head of the KMDA emphasized.
It should be noted that applicants can submit documents for participation in the competition (biographical certificate and a copy of the educational document) by June 21, 2016 to the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Kyiv (T. Shevchenko Boulevard, 3, Room 412).
