The day before, the pilot project "English language teachers - agents of change" was launched, the main goal of which is to retrain and provide special training to almost 4,000 English language teachers in seven regions and the city of Kyiv.
According to Victoria Ivanisheva, manager of educational projects of the British Council in Ukraine, the training will take place according to the cascade principle, namely the first 170 teachers who will be trained according to European standards will become trainers-mentors for their colleagues.
The required number of qualified trainers in each region of Ukraine will be regulated by the British Council, and the Go Global initiative, in turn, will provide coordination and organizational support to the project. The best teachers will be provided with scholarships.
It should be noted that in February 2016, the first teacher trainings will take place in seven regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Lviv, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Cherkasy, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and the city of Kyiv.
In Ukraine, 2016 has been declared the year of the English language. The public initiative Go Global, supported by the National Council of Reforms, is the coordinator and promoter of the idea of increasing the level of knowledge of foreign languages among the population of Ukraine.
