The Ministry of Education and Science plans to introduce the "Defense of the Fatherland" training program for 10-11 grades of general education institutions.

The new educational subject will contribute to familiarizing young people with the basics of regulatory and legal support for the protection of the Motherland, students' acquisition of knowledge about the tasks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their characteristic features, assimilation of the basics of protecting the Motherland, civil protection, the basics of medical knowledge, and the psychological preparation of young people for the protection of the Motherland.

The new school subject will form schoolchildren the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to protect the Motherland. "Defense of the Fatherland" will be a compulsory subject for teaching in high school.

Studying the subject will be compulsory for boys and girls. Upon completion of the "Defense of the Fatherland" course, 3-day military field training will be organized on the basis of military units, military commissariats and basic educational institutions, which will be held by district military commissariats and local self-government bodies.
