The day before, a round table was held at the Kyiv State Academy of Water Transport on the initiative of the "All-Ukrainian Union of Crewing Companies" Association.
The participants of the meeting were more than 20 representatives of the Ukrmorrichinspektsia, specialized educational institutions, crewing companies and training centers for seafarers.
The main topic was the discussion of the plan of measures to simplify the system of certification of seafarers, proposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Also, among the important problems of professional training of industry personnel, the issue of providing training vessels was also raised.
"The urgent need of the industry is the training of competitive personnel who will be in demand by both domestic and foreign shipowners. Therefore, practical instruction and training on real ships will ensure the improvement of the quality of education of seafarers in specialized universities, which graduate up to 7,500 people every year," said the vice-rector of the Odesa National Maritime Academy, Vadym Zakharchenko.
It was decided to create a joint group to develop legally possible ways of financial support for the maintenance of educational vessels by specialized educational institutions.
Oleksandr Ishchenko, deputy chief of the inspectorate of the department for training and certification of seafarers, presented the Ministry of Infrastructure's plan of measures to simplify the seafarers' certification system. And the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Vaskov called on the participants of the meeting to send proposals and comments to the ministry regarding the improvement of the plan.
