The Ministry of Education and Science emphasizes that there are some budget programs that the state cannot donate. Deputy Minister of Education Yehor Stadny wrote about this on his Facebook.
According to him, one of such programs is an educational subsidy for the New Ukrainian School.
"We understand all the complexity of the situation in the country, the Ministry of Education and Science is ready to postpone some expenses for the future, no matter how painful it is. But there are budget programs that we cannot sacrifice for many reasons. First of all, it is an educational subvention for the National Educational Institution, which is the heart of the school reform, if it stops fighting, the reform will die," the deputy minister emphasizes.
He also reported that the Ministry of Education and Culture was able to convince the Ministry of Finance to leave at least part of the money for the NUS subvention.
"Funds for building capable schools and additional payments to young teachers remain under attack," Yehor Stadny noted.
As you know, the Ministry of Finance, in connection with the need to create a Stabilization Fund to combat the consequences of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, proposes to reduce the total amount of funding for education and science by almost UAH 6 billion. This amount includes all development programs of education and science, including the educational subvention of NUS.
The Ministry of Education and Science, the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers spoke against this initiative.
