The Ministry of Education and Science held a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), during which they discussed the continuation of work to ensure equal conditions for those seeking education for a healthy life and opportunities for development.
According to the Minister of Education Serhiy Shkarlet, the Ministry of Education is open to cooperation and implementation of joint projects.
"The issues are very important for us. They require comprehensive consideration and broad public dialogue. It is appropriate to determine the points that will become the basis for the development of the educational environment, to work out joint proposals and to develop a road map. We hope for your support and help in this direction. Of course, we will be sincerely grateful if we can take the issue to a new level by joint efforts," said Serhii Shkarlet.
For their part, UNFPA representatives expressed their support for the Ministry of Education and Culture in the implementation of reforms related to ensuring equal rights and opportunities.
As the representative of UNFPA in Ukraine Jaime Nadal noted, in order for a person to be able to fully realize his potential, he needs to be prepared in various areas, in particular, issues of comprehensive sexual education.
"We understand that this is a sensitive and difficult issue. But we also understand that young people encounter such materials on the Internet and social networks, which sometimes do not contribute to their well-being and health. Therefore, our task is to give girls and boys the appropriate skills so that they can protect themselves and the environment around them," noted Jaime Nadal.
As a result of the meeting, the parties reached agreements on the creation of a working group, which should include representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Institute for the Modernization of the Content of Education, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), public organizations, etc. Its main goal is to develop mechanisms for the implementation of joint projects and the implementation of conceptual complex measures aimed at the comprehensive development of children.
