Metropolitan schools and kindergartens work as usual. All responsible persons in educational institutions received appropriate instructions regarding the safety of children and teachers.
This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the KMDA Valentyn Mondryivskyi.
According to him, currently the most pressing issue is the safety of schoolchildren.
"For three weeks now, the staff of educational institutions have been receiving training on actions in case of emergency situations, and I can assure everyone: our educators are ready to act clearly and carefully in any situation. Employees know the sequence of actions and how to behave in emergency situations, where shelters are located and which route to take to them. The most important thing now is not to panic, but to you and I, parents, to explain to our children the need to carefully listen to teachers and clearly follow their instructions. This is the only way we will save the lives of our children," said Mondryivskyi.
He also reminded about the rules for the work of schools in the conditions of quarantine restrictions.
"The leadership of the capital made the right decision regarding the work of educational institutions, namely: not to introduce a general lockdown. School principals make decisions about the transition to distance learning of a class or school, based on the indicators of their unit. So in Kyiv, the absolute majority of schools continued to work, and the incidence has now already declined. Today, only 19 out of 425 schools in the capital are on full distance learning, and slightly more than one percent of students are sick with COVID-19," Mondryivskyi emphasized.
As for kindergartens, out of 580 preschool education institutions, only 6 have been closed due to COVID-19.
