The government found opportunities to finance projects selected as winners of joint competitions held by the State Fund for Fundamental Research together with foreign scientific societies.

This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Education and Science.

According to the department, the winners of joint competitions will be provided with grant support at the expense of the free balance of the budget of the National Research Fund.

"Now, Ukrainian scientists who, together with foreign colleagues, participate in joint scientific projects for conducting fundamental research, despite the reorganization of the State Fund for Fundamental Research, have the opportunity to receive funding for the implementation of projects that were previously recognized as winners of competitions announced by the fund," he emphasized t.v.o. Minister of Education and Science Serhii Shkarlet.

The Ministry of Education and Culture noted that during 2017-2018, competitions for scientific projects were held and winners were selected. The terms of the tenders stipulated that financing of the Ukrainian part of the projects would begin in 2018-2019. However, as a result of the reorganization of the State Fund for Fundamental Research, which began at the beginning of 2019, contracts on the performance of research works with the winners of joint competitions were not concluded and the funds were not transferred to the winners.

Due to the lack of funding, scientific institutions and institutions of higher education, which were recognized as winners of joint competitions, did not have the opportunity to start work on the implementation of projects. It is expected that this situation will now be corrected after confirmation of the relevance of scientific projects.
