The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has prepared an explanatory letter regarding the enrollment of students in 1st, 5th and 10th grades to specialized schools (classes) with in-depth study of individual subjects, gymnasiums (boarding gymnasiums), lyceums (lyceums boarding schools), collegiums (boarding colleges) of state and communal ownership.
Enrollment of children in the 1st grades of the above-mentioned institutions of the I-III degrees is carried out without holding a competition and in accordance with the procedures determined by the Enrollment Procedure. Enrollment in the 5th grade of such institutions takes place on a general basis by transferring students from the 4th grade. In the case of free places, enrollment takes place in the following way: before the beginning of the school year, children who live in the service area are enrolled, and during the school year - in the order of receipt of applications.
If these institutions of education of the II or II-III degrees (that is, do not have an elementary school in their composition) - enrollment in the 5th grades is based on the results of competitive selection, provided that the number of submitted applications as of May 31 exceeds the total number of available places in the class (classes).
Enrollment in 10th grades — takes place based on the results of competitive selection, provided that the number of applications submitted as of May 31 exceeds the total number of places in the tenth (tenth grades) of the educational institution.
