According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the government's decision to reduce the 10% budget limits for all ministries will mean a reduction in the funding of the state program "Education Development for 2013-2020" from 441 billion rubles to 397 billion rubles in 2015. At the same time, higher education funding will decrease from 259.2 billion to 233.3 billion.
According to the Russian mass media, the reduction in funding of higher education institutions will not apply to teachers' salaries and student scholarships. Also, the funding of federal universities and the "5-100" programs to promote Russian higher education institutions in international rankings will not be reduced.
