The trade union of education and science workers insists on the need to ensure compliance with the norms of the Law "On Education" regarding the establishment of the official salary of a pedagogical employee of the lowest qualification category in the amount of 3 minimum wages and its increase by at least 10 % for each subsequent qualification category.
The relevant appeal of the trade union is addressed to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Cabinet of Ministers and the specialized committee of the parliament.
The trade union also emphasizes that the lowest official salary of a scientific and pedagogical employee should be set at 25 % higher than the official salary of a pedagogical employee of the lowest qualification category with a 10% differentiation for each subsequent salary.
"According to the Final and Transitional Provisions of the Law "On Education", these norms entered into force on January 1, 2018 and will be implemented in stages until 2023 with an annual increase in the salary of a pedagogue of the lowest qualification category to 4 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons," the Trade Union of Education Workers notes and science.
Taking into account the process of forming the draft of the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021, the trade union expects to take appropriate measures to implement the norms provided for in Article 61 of the Law "On Education" and to ensure Government Resolution No. 822, providing for education expenditures in the amount of at least 7 % of GDP in accordance with Article 78 of the Law "On Education".
