The government has approved a plan of measures to be implemented by 2020 for the implementation of school reform. The relevant order - "On the approval of the Action Plan for 2017-2020 for the implementation of the Concept of state policy in the field of general secondary education reform "New Ukrainian School" and the prospects for its implementation until 2029" - was adopted today, December 13, 2017, at a meeting CMU
"This plan clearly defines the measures until 2020, necessary for the start of the New Ukrainian School. It is about launching new state standards, printing modern textbooks, introducing the conceptual foundations of a new system of training and professional growth of teachers, creating a new school structure," explained the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliya Hrynevych.
She added that "all unresolved differences of this plan became settled after the adoption of the new Law "On Education", which established the new terminology used during the preparation of this document."
All the planned measures are necessary to fulfill the requirements of the reform. In particular, it is about creating a 3-year senior specialized school, updating the content of education on a competency basis, increasing the efficiency of the educational process, ensuring equal access to quality education for all students, regardless of their social status, territory of residence or nationality, and transforming Ukrainian schools into lever of social equality. The expansion of the autonomy of educational institutions in the formation of their own educational programs is foreseen.
In addition to a detailed plan of actions until 2020, the order also contains a vision of the changes that will be necessary between 2020 and 2029.
Within a month, the central bodies of executive power, regional and Kyiv state administrations, which are involved in the implementation of the plan, must develop their documents, according to which they will work to implement the order.
