A competent approach and building partnership relations between students, teachers and parents are the priorities of Ukrainian school reform. This was discussed during the public discussion of the Vision of the new Ukrainian school on June 13 in the premises of the Ministry of Education and Culture with the participation of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych.

Liliya Hrynevych noted that in the process of discussions, the main thing for the Ministry of Education and Culture is to determine the accents, the basic directions in which the Vision of the new Ukrainian school will appear.

"The vision should explain to people where we want to go, what this new Ukrainian school should be like. When we understand the fundamental difference between what we have and what we want to get, we will understand how many years we need to achieve it, and what stages we can distinguish on the way to this goal," Liliya Hrynevych emphasized.

For the work of representatives of the public who joined the event, they were divided into groups according to the areas of work: junior, middle and high school. Each group prepared its own model of a student, teacher and school in the chosen direction. Among the priorities, the participants noted the building of partnership relations between students, teachers and parents.

Also, as part of the discussion, members of the public analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of school education in Ukraine, the opportunities and threats that exist today in the context of education reform.

Data: The Recommendations of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU define 8 basic competencies that must be formed through education, which are necessary for every person for personal formation and development, active citizenship, social inclusion and employment: communication in the native language (oral and written); communication in foreign languages; mathematical competences and basic competences in natural sciences and technologies; digital competences; the ability to learn; social and civic competences; initiative and entrepreneurial skills; general cultural literacy and the ability to express oneself.
