The British company QS Quacquarelli Symonds has published the results of the first QS university ranking, which includes universities in Europe and Central Asia. "We studied 368 universities, 255 of which had never been in our rankings before, and 18 of them appeared in the Top 100. As the project develops, we expect to develop cooperation with even more ambitious universities from this dynamic region," said Ben Souter, Head of Research at QS.
The rating was headed by Moscow State University. 6 Ukrainian universities were included in the rating. Kyiv National University took 35th place, NTUU "Kyiv Polytechnic University" and Kharkiv National University named after Karazin took 51st and 58th places, respectively, Sumy National University took 70th place, Lviv Polytechnic University - 84th place, National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic University - 91st place.
In the QS rating, the best educational institutions of the region are determined on the basis of nine criteria:
— scientific reputation (30%; determined on the basis of an international survey of academics)
— reputation among employers (20%; determined on the basis of an international survey of employers)
— the ratio of teaching staff to students (15%; data from universities and open sources)
— the fate of foreign teaching staff (2.5%; data from universities and open sources)
— fate of foreign students (2.5%; data from universities and open sources)
— publication activity of the Faculty of Education (10%; the number of published articles per teacher, calculated on the basis of Scopus/Elsevier data)
— scientific citation of publications (5%; number of citations per article calculated on the basis of Scopus/Elsevier data)
— share of employees with a scientific degree (5%; data from universities and open sources)
— efficiency of Internet resources (10%, Webometrics rating data)
