The capital authorities decided to introduce quarantine in educational and health care institutions, institutions of the city of Kyiv and to introduce restrictions on public events in the capital from January 16.
"We decided not to wait until the epidemiological threshold of seasonal diseases in the capital is exceeded, and decided to introduce quarantine in Kyiv from Saturday to prevent the spread of seasonal diseases. This is a preventive measure, because we see a negative trend in the number of patients. Given the specificity of the virus and severe complications from the flu, we must prevent the spread of seasonal diseases," Klitschko said.
He also informed that Kyiv is 100% equipped with anti-virus means, which were purchased, in particular, with the funds saved as a result of the budget year.
The mayor also appealed to the owners of the capital's pharmacy chains to prevent price increases for antiviral and immune-stimulating drugs and vitamins.
Preventive quarantine in the capital will be introduced from Saturday, January 16, and will continue until the epidemiological situation in the city improves.
