Among the priority directions of development, to which significant funds will be directed in the capital this year, are the medical and educational spheres, renewal and construction of city infrastructure. Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko announced this on the air of the TV channel "Kyiv".
"We received Kyiv with huge debts - almost 27 billion hryvnias! Over the years, we have more than halved our debt. And we almost doubled the city budget. Three years ago, it was 27 billion, and the budget for this year is almost 50. Finally, we have the financial capacity to implement changes. We need to finance medicine, education, restore the infrastructure, which is in a neglected state," said Vitaliy Klitschko.
In particular, the mayor reminded that funding for these three priority areas was significantly increased last year. In the field of education, the city continues to finance the construction and repair of schools and kindergartens.
"Three years ago, there were 15,000 children waiting in line for kindergartens. Now we have reduced the queue by three times. But our task is not to lose pace. And I am convinced that in a few years there should not be queues for kindergartens in Kyiv. This is our task," said the mayor.
"We will open new schools, kindergartens, update roads and infrastructure, and change our city. And our task is to make Kyiv the European capital," Vitaly Klitschko concluded.
