The PhotoMath application was developed for schoolchildren, designed to solve mathematical equations.
The process of using it is very easy, the user only needs to point the camera at the equation, after which the program will do everything by itself, recognize the mathematical symbols in the formula, make calculations - and give the correct answer. After solving, the user can review all steps of solving the equation.
The program is available for iOS and Windows Phone, and the Android version will be released in early 2015.
Developers from the company Microblink assured that the program was not created for fraud, but to help students. Also, they assured that the program successfully recognizes arithmetic expressions, fractions, root signs of various degrees, simple linear equations.
But there were also complaints from the first users that the program does not always work as it should, does not recognize characters well and gives wrong answers.
