The Kyiv city government intends to provide family forms of education to as many orphans living in the capital as possible. This was emphasized by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Hanna Starostenko, congratulating the family-type orphanage (DBST) of the Ditsul family on its 10th anniversary.
"The city authorities want all orphans to be brought up in a family - in foster homes, family-type children's homes - or to be adopted. We hope that, despite the difficult economic and social situation, there will be more and more people like the parents of the Ditsul family. So that they adopt children and give them not just a roof over their heads, but also love, a large and cozy family," she said.
According to Hanna Starostenko, 20 DBSTs have been opened in Kyiv today, and three more houses are planned to be opened in the near future: "About 3 million hryvnias were allocated from the budget for the purchase of apartments for future DBSTs and another 600,000 hryvnias for repairs and the purchase of furniture. Renovations in the apartments are now being completed, and we hope that very soon they will open their doors to large families. Another 3 million hryvnias are provided by the target program "Children. Family. The capital for 2016-2018" for the purchase of cars for DBST".
The family-type orphanage of the Ditsul family opened at the end of March 2006. It was one of the first children's homes created in the city of Kyiv. During the entire period of operation of the DBST, 20 foster children who were left without parental care were educated in it. 10 of them have already left DBST - among them pupils who were adopted, transferred to the care of relatives or left for independent life.
Parents-educators continue to communicate with their graduates and help them solve various life issues. Today, the family is raising 10 children deprived of parental care, 4 of them are children with special needs.
