The Cabinet of Ministers has published a plan of measures for the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Science and Mathematics Education until 2027.
The document defines a set of measures related to the development of scientific research and engineering skills, invention, entrepreneurship, early professional self-determination and readiness for a conscious choice of future profession.
According to the Minister of Education Serhiy Shkarlet, today in the world great attention is paid to the study of mathematics and engineering.
"Therefore, the compliance of the content of education with the socio-economic demands of the state should be the basis of the new philosophy of science and mathematics education," the minister noted.
According to the action plan, during 2021-2022 it is planned to develop educational materials and methodological recommendations for teachers to prepare students for participation in the PISA international educational survey.
During this period, it is also planned to update the standards of higher education in the field of knowledge "Education/Pedagogy" in terms of the use of the latest pedagogical approaches to teaching and assessment, the practice of interdisciplinary training, methods and teaching tools that contribute to the development of research and inventive competences.
In addition, by 2023, it is planned to develop a series of video lectures for teachers of physics, mathematics and elementary grades on STEM education, as well as a new content of STEM education for students of general secondary education.
The plan of events also provides for the holding of conferences, seminars, symposia on the use of the latest methods of STEM education for pedagogical and research-pedagogical workers, the creation of databases or interactive maps of educational institutions implementing STEM education, the holding of competitions, tournaments, Olympiads, other intellectual competitions, summer schools, all-Ukrainian science festivals, etc.
