The Cabinet of Ministers approved changes to the Regulations on the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the government resolution was developed with the aim of bringing the Regulations into line with the laws of Ukraine "On Education", "On Vocational Pre-Higher Education", "On Comprehensive General Secondary Education".

The resolution of the CMU refers to the changed functions of the Ministry of Education and Culture, including the determination of perspectives and priority directions for the development of various branches of education, licensing of educational activities, development of projects for educational activity licensing conditions and changes to them, state supervision of compliance by licensees with the requirements of educational activity licensing conditions, approval procedure for examination of educational programs, etc.

In addition, the functions of the Ministry of Education and Culture include approving the procedure for granting seals to educational literature and curricula, approving the procedure for conducting institutional audits and unscheduled inspections of educational institutions, conducting attestation of professional (vocational and technical) education institutions, conducting a special verification of information about education, the availability of a scientific degree, academic title in relation to persons applying for positions with increased corruption risk.

Among other things, the Ministry's powers in the field of formulating proposals for the amount of educational subventions include the right to develop and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval the formula for the distribution of educational subventions, the procedures and conditions for the distribution of other transfers from the state budget to general secondary education to local budgets.

As part of the implementation of the state policy on scholarship support, awards and bonuses in accordance with the legislation, the Ministry of Education and Culture will submit proposals for the provision of grants from the President of Ukraine to support the scientific research of young scientists and doctors of science to carry out scientific research.
