The document was accepted on first reading and as a whole. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Presidential Bill No. 3669 "On Amendments to Some Laws of Ukraine Regarding Certain Issues of Completion of the 2019/2020 Academic Year." 356 deputies voted for the document in the first reading. The document as a whole was supported by the same number of parliamentarians.
The deputies also voted for the immediate signing of the document by the head of the parliament, Dmytro Razumokvy. This decision was supported by 358 people's deputies.
In particular, the draft law proposes to exempt school graduates from mandatory state final certification this year. At the same time, graduates can pass the final certification, including in the form of an external examination, at their own request.
At the same time, the draft law does not abolish external independent testing.
The document also states that the length of the academic year in educational institutions is established by a special law. However, if the participants of the educational process are prohibited from visiting educational institutions for the period of implementation of measures to prevent the emergence and spread of the coronavirus, provided for by the quarantine, then the date of the beginning and / or end of the corresponding academic year (years) can be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
