The educational system is moving towards a mixed type of education, when part of the educational process will go online.
Serhiy Babak, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, said this in an interview with the website of the "Servant of the People" political party.
What will education be like after quarantine?
It probably won't be like before. We are moving towards a mixed type of education: when part of the educational process will go online. What do I mean?
First, we plan to continue developing the online school. We will completely remove the academic year and leave all lessons freely available on a single free electronic platform.
Such a resource will be a great support tool for students who have missed school due to absence. It is enough to find out the topic of the lesson from the teacher and, being at home with a temperature, turn on the computer and watch the lesson.
Do not forget that our quarantine is not the first time. There are also seasonal quarantines (for example, due to the flu) and situational ones (chicken pox). The platform will help both substitute teachers and parents who want to go through any topic with their child again.
Second, we are creating an inclusive online school. This is a very important point for me personally. All children, regardless of ability, should have equal access to knowledge. That is why we are already adding titration for hearing-impaired children and sign interpretation to the video lessons. They also started making lessons for children with visual impairment - with sign language translation.
Thirdly, if there is electronic submission of documents to the school, there are online lessons, why not make electronic diaries? Paper reporting as a rudiment of the old system should disappear and thereby make life easier for teachers, children, and especially parents. After all, you can easily and at any time see your child's progress and react in time if he needs help with his studies.
It will be a whole system with data on lessons, academic performance and attendance of children. But it will have different levels of access. That is, it will not be the case that everyone came in and learned everything about everyone. Parents look after their child, the child looks after his own progress and the success of his class, the teacher looks after the classes in which he teaches, but the principal is the only person who will be able to look after everyone's success. Because this is her direct duty.
In conclusion, I would like to note that the education system is evolving. This is happening before our eyes, and I am glad that we have the opportunity to participate in these changes that will definitely help make the future of our children more successful. The time has come for that.
