The other day, representatives of Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Poltava University of Economics and Trade, Sumy State University, Semyon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, Ukrainian Catholic University and Alfred Nobel University signed a joint statement of understanding and principles joint activity in the policy of ensuring the quality of higher education.
Achieving high quality of educational and scientific activity, forming a culture of quality are among the basic priorities of modern Ukrainian higher education. It is higher education, research and innovation that play a decisive role in the humanization of society, the creation of prerequisites for economic growth, the formation of responsible citizens and their integration into the world civilizational and economic processes. Education was and remains a key component of the socio-economic development of society, determining the place of a particular country in the global division of labor and its influence at the regional and global level. Dynamic social and scientific and technical development, processes of globalization and regionalization significantly change our ideas about the content of the competencies of education seekers, putting in the center of attention the results of training, their recognition both inside the country and abroad, the correspondence of the declared qualification skills to the real requirements of the labor market and interested persons.
In such conditions, in our common opinion, the quality of educational and scientific activity in higher education should be based on the primary responsibility of higher education institutions for the results of studies and the reliability of research, taking into account the diversity of higher education institutions, educational programs, and students of education. Such a vision should become an achievement and a reference point for all members of the academic community, determine the rules of their professional activity, take into account the needs and expectations of students, teachers, scientists, representatives of the labor market and other stakeholders.
In their desire to create a culture of quality in institutions of higher education, the parties will adhere to the principles of universality, transparency, objectivity, student-centeredness, systematicity and systematicity, avoidance of conflict of interests and academic integrity. Such activities will aim to build truly effective local quality assurance systems in our universities, promote the development of a quality culture in the national system of higher education, and improve quality assurance procedures in accordance with the principle of minimum necessity and sufficiency.
The created system should provide for the partnership participation of students and their self-governing bodies, employers' councils, and alumni associations.
The joint application is an open document and all higher education institutions of Ukraine can join it.
