The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted a meeting between Minister Lilia Hrynyvych and the delegation of the Council on Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey, led by the head of the Council Yekta Sarach, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yonet Can Tezel.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached on updating the format of cooperation in the field of higher education between Ukraine and Turkey. Lilia Hrynevych noted that the Turkish government provided 45 to 50 scholarships for Crimean Tatars and Meskhetian Turks to study at Turkish universities every year. The Minister made a proposal regarding the appropriate provision of places for Turkish citizens to study in Ukraine. The issue of implementing double diplomas between Turkish and Ukrainian universities was also discussed. Partnership in scientific research between Ukrainian and Turkish universities was identified as a priority direction in cooperation between the countries.
Liliya Hrynevych reported that Ukrainian educational institutions need teachers who speak the Turkish language, as it is studied in a number of domestic schools and universities. Chairman of the Council Yekta Sarach expressed the readiness of the Turkish side to provide Ukraine with support in this matter. He also noted that it is planned to introduce the study of the Ukrainian language at Istanbul University.
Yekta Sarach noted that Ukraine and Turkey cooperate in many areas, but it is cooperation in the field of education that ensures a strong connection between the countries. Yekta Sarach emphasized the need to develop and deepen cooperation in the field of education between the two countries. As part of the delegation's visit, it was planned to get acquainted with advanced higher educational institutions of Ukraine, in particular, representatives of the Council visited the National Aviation University and the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
