The day before, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Free Provision of Textbooks to Students of General Educational Institutions and Pedagogical Workers" (No. 1857). By 235 votes, the parliamentarians voted for its adoption as a basis and in general.
This law establishes guarantees from the state "for free provision of textbooks, manuals, and methodical literature for students of general educational institutions and teaching staff in accordance with the procedure established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine." At the same time, the implementation of this task is entrusted to the central body of executive power, which implements state policy in the field of education.
Corresponding changes are expected to be made to Articles 12 and 35 of the Law of Ukraine "On Education" and Article 37 of the Law "On General Secondary Education".
