The Ministry of Education and Science appealed to local education management bodies, institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education and educational institutions with a request to organize events to celebrate Defender of Ukraine Day. This is stated in the letter of the Ministry of Education and Culture, which also contains relevant methodological recommendations for celebrating the holiday.
The Ministry of Education emphasizes that in accordance with the decree of the President of Ukraine "On celebrating the Defender of Ukraine Day in 2015", the holiday will be celebrated on October 14 at the state level.
The purpose of the events is the formation and development of motivation among young people, aimed at preparing for the defense of the state and service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, educating Ukrainian youth in the spirit of the military traditions of the Ukrainian people, forming a patriotically mature personality, etc.
When choosing a calendar date for events, schools are recommended to choose the academic week from October 12 to 16, 2015.
When choosing the place, forms, methods and methods of conducting events, teachers should take into account the age characteristics of students; the possibility of providing a class or school with technical teaching aids. Events dedicated to Defender of Ukraine Day can be held at the level of an educational institution, several parallel classes or at the class level.
The forms of events can be excursions, discussion platforms, lesson-presentations, round tables, etc.
During the preparation of the material and the choice of the form of the event, teachers are recommended to pay special attention to the worthy honoring of the military feat, achievements, and self-sacrifice of citizens who devoted their lives to serving the Ukrainian people.
The recommendations also contain an approximate theme of the events, a list of feature films and documentaries about the heroism of Ukrainian soldiers, a selection of thematic Ukrainian songs, and useful Internet links.
The Ministry of Education and Science is asked to actively highlight the events on the websites of schools and educational authorities.
