During the briefing on education reform, which took place at the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers, Pavlo Polyansky noted that according to the Law "On Education" the model of obtaining secondary education will be significantly changed.

As Pavlo Polyanskyi noted, now the priority for the Ministry of Education and Culture is to conceptually reform and change Ukrainian education together with civil society. "It is inappropriate and wrong to make changes in education without the participation of the public. The Ministry worked together with experts on three new laws - the framework Law "On Education", the laws "On Professional Education" and "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities" - and will present them to the public in the coming days," said the deputy minister.

Public schools should be free and open to the public, then education will be beneficial to citizens.

The draft law "On Education" introduces a new model of secondary education for students, which will be to be acquired over 12 years and will have the following structure:

- from 1 to 5 grades - elementary school;

- from 6 to 9 grades - basic school;

- from 10 to 12 grades - specialized high school.

The main goal of implementing a 5-year primary school is to reduce the number of subjects, which will make it possible to reduce the educational load on children. In high school, students will choose either a professional profile or an academic one, which, in turn, will also make it possible to reduce the number of academic subjects.

The training of teachers and their motivation will also be changed.

Changes in the new law "On Vocational Education" will affect the training of students in professional institutions, namely the definition of specialists needed for universities. But this process will be regulated by a panel of stakeholders (representatives of private business, state institutions, the public who are interested in the development of their region), and not one person.

Also, in the future, a new type of institution will be introduced - a regional professional education center, which will be responsible for training specialists for its region in many areas (from operators to mechanics).

Pavlo Polyanskyi expressed hope that the new school year will begin with new laws, and emphasized that these draft laws provide for the decentralization of power, and therefore, a significant amount of authority will be transferred to the regional level along with great responsibility.
