According to the report of "Ukrzaliznytsia", the Ministry of Education did not compensate the costs of transportation of students and pupils of vocational educational institutions in 2014 in the amount of 141.6 million hryvnias. In 2014, the ministry compensated the carrier only 12% (18.9 million hryvnias) from the amount of services provided.
"Rail transport was used by 7.2 million students and pupils of vocational and technical educational institutions last year, of which 2.8 million - 39% of all passengers of this type of transport were transported in long-distance transport. "The railways provided services worth 160.5 million hryvnias, while the Ministry of Education did not pay 141.6 million hryvnias for the preferential travel of students and pupils of educational institutions", - says the message of "Ukrzaliznytsia".
In the press release, it is stated that during all the years of Ukraine's independence, the costs of transportation of students and pupils of vocational educational institutions were not fully reimbursed to the railways, not even half of the amount was compensated. For example, in 2013, only 21.8 % of the amount of services were paid.
"In this way, the carrier is placed in unequal conditions, when the state has established a benefit that is not paid. Students of higher education institutions of I-IV levels of accreditation and students of vocational and technical educational institutions pay 50% of the ticket price all year round for travel in suburban and intercity trains in general and reserved carriages", - reports the press service of "Ukrzaliznytsia".
