Yesterday, on August 11, 2014, Minister Serhii Kvit met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Piatras Vaitekunas, at which issues of cooperation and mutual assistance between the Republic of Lithuania and Ukraine in the field of education were discussed.
According to Mr. Piatras Vaitekunas, in a difficult time for Ukraine, which also affected the sphere of education, Lithuania offers Ukraine its help. One of its forms is the expansion of undergraduate and master's programs for the admission of students of Ukrainian higher educational institutions, primarily applicants and students from Donbas.
Also, the Rector of Mikolas Romeris Universyty, Professor Alvydas Pampatis took part in the meeting. The professor noted that the Lithuanian MRU University specializes in social and humanitarian areas and has experience in participating in educational programs from the EU, developing legislative initiatives of Lithuania for their harmonization with the institutions of the European Union. Today, about 100 students from Ukraine study at the university.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Piatras Vaitekunas handed over an invitation to the Minister of Education and Science Serhii Kvit and representatives of Ukrainian science to participate in the International Conference Life Sciences Baltic, which will be held in September 2014 in Vilnius.
Serhii Kvit thanked Pietras Vaitekunas for the proposals and assured the Lithuanian side of Ukraine's interest in the further development of partnership relations between the countries in the field of education.
