The meeting was held in the city of Warsaw, Republic of Poland, in the period from December 14 to 15. The organizers of the event were the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools of Poland, the Conference of Rectors of Germany and the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland and the Federal Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.
The event was opened by the president of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools, Weslaw Banysz, the vice-president of the Conference of Rectors of Germany, Joana-Eleonora Weber, and the president of the Union of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine, Leonid Huberskyi. Rector of the University of Warsaw Martin Palissy, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of Poland D. Nalets, Ambassador of Germany to Poland Rolf Nickel and Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia addressed the participants of the forum with congratulatory words.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the state of higher education in Ukraine, Poland and Germany, analyzed the recently adopted Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education".
Also, great attention was paid at the meeting to the international cooperation of countries in the field of education, the writing of joint grants within the framework of the EU program "Horizon 2020", the integration of Ukrainian universities into the European intellectual space, the projects of the Foundation of Polish rectors and the creation of a consulting group to support the tripartite German-Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of higher education.
It should be noted that December 15, 2014 is an important date for the education of Ukraine, because on this day the Agreement on Cooperation was signed between the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine and the Conference of Rectors of Germany. This agreement provides for the stimulation and coordination of cooperation between higher educational institutions of Ukraine and Germany; implementation of activities aimed at creating an effective and integrated system of public education; development of higher education, science and culture in the country and abroad; presentation of tasks of higher education and science and general interests of higher education institutions; implementation of activities aimed at the formation of the European educational and scientific space; writing joint grants within the European Union program "Horizon 2020".
