The Minister of Education Liliya Hrynevych notes that in Ukraine it is necessary to change approaches to teaching in pedagogical higher educational institutions and improve the qualifications of teachers. She wrote about this in her blog on the NV.ua website.
In particular, the minister noted that her strategic goal is to create such an education system that will help children, regardless of their background and abilities, to become successful and find their place in life, and for adults to create opportunities for lifelong learning.
"We have to significantly change the Ukrainian school, first of all the content of education - what we teach children. It should be education for life. We will move from the transmission of a huge amount of knowledge and requirements to reproduce this knowledge, to the formation of schoolchildren's ability to think critically, cooperate in a team, solve problems, independently search for and analyze information, possess financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills, be ready to learn throughout life," she emphasized. She expressed her belief in the need to change the content of education so that younger schoolchildren are able to calculate their budget for a trip to the store or the zoo, and older students are able to calculate interest on a deposit or their taxes.
"At the same time, we have to prepare teachers to teach modernized content: to change approaches to teaching in pedagogical universities and improve the qualifications of teachers. The new content of education will require knowledge of new modern methods and other approaches to knowledge assessment," said the Minister of Education and Science, Liliya Hrynevych.
