Students studying under a contract at Ukrainian universities will have the opportunity to independently set the terms of their studies according to a specific educational program.

This innovative approach is provided for in the draft law aimed at increasing the flexibility of the educational process in Ukrainian universities, which received support from the government.

If the document is approved by the Verkhovna Rada, contract holders will be able to choose the duration of their educational program.

According to this draft law, the annual load of full-time education may vary from 30 to 80 ECTS credits. This will allow students to allocate credits during their studies at their discretion.

To illustrate: you can earn 240 credits in 4 years, earning 60 credits annually, or earn 80 credits per year and complete your studies in 3 years. Also, students can choose a lower workload for a longer period of time.

The Ministry of Education emphasizes that such flexibility will bring Ukrainian higher education closer to European standards. In addition, it will increase the autonomy of students, giving them more freedom in choosing the pace of learning and subjects.
