The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that finally canceled the compulsory employment of students. The relevant decision was taken at the Government meeting on May 31, 2017.
"Mandatory employment for the rest of the students was canceled last year, but the employment of medical students was left in connection with the position of specialized institutions. Now even medical students can manage themselves after graduation and exercise their constitutional right to freely choose the place of further work," explained the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliya Hrynevych.
The decision was made in connection with changes in the legislation. Thus, earlier the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" Regarding Employment of Graduates" abolished the norms regarding the mandatory employment of graduates of higher educational institutions.
It will be recalled that previously students who studied under the state order had to work for three years at the enterprise to which they were sent by the educational institution based on distribution. If the graduate did not want to work, he was given the right to be reimbursed for his education. The work was monitored by the financial inspectorate.
