From May 15 to May 31, 2017, Ukraine will host the pilot stage of the PISA-2018 international study of the quality of education. About 2,000 pupils and students from more than 40 educational institutions will take part in it.

The pilot stage of the research is preparation for the main one. Its purpose is to check how research tools work in Ukraine, to test administration procedures, technological schemes for preparing and conducting research in educational institutions. This approach enables high-quality conducting of the main research, and, as a result, obtaining valid results.

Participants will be tested in reading, mathematics and natural sciences, as well as take part in a questionnaire. Examples of tasks from previous years can be found on the official website of PISA-2018 in Ukraine.

In 2018, for the first time, Ukraine will participate in the Program for International Student Assessment - PISA, which is held under the auspices of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The program aims to compare the education systems of about 80 countries around the world by measuring the competencies of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics and science. PISA does not test the level of academic achievement of students, but instead assesses how well the student will be able to use the knowledge and skills acquired at school in various life situations. In addition, PISA research focuses on the factors that influence student learning success.
