The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych agreed to visit Sofia on April 26, 2018 to sign the Declaration on Ensuring the Rights of Persons Belonging to the Bulgarian National Minority with the Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria. The visit was agreed during the meeting of Lilia Hrynevych with the Ambassador of Bulgaria Krasimir Nedelchev Minchev.
"We have been planning to sign this declaration for a long time, and I am glad that it will happen in the near future. I would also like to tell you that as part of our work on the implementation of the recommendations of the Venice Commission regarding the language article of the Law "On Education", we held a series of consultations with all minorities. In particular, in February, we familiarized the representatives of the Bulgarian minority with the roadmap for the implementation of Article 7 developed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as the draft of the language article of the future law "On general secondary education". The draft law itself is at the stage of development, but we first published the article specifically to collect all the recommendations," Liliya Hrynevych said.
Ambassador Minchev noted that the published action plan of the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the language issue, in his opinion, preserves opportunities for the development of the Bulgarian minority in Ukraine. He also emphasized that he also plans to hold consultations with representatives of the minority regarding their needs.
